NSBW/NSLW
National
School Breakfast Week (NSBW) and National School Lunch Week (NSLW)
are yearly events designated to highlight the importance of a well-balanced
breakfast and lunch to the health and well-being of our nation's children.
NSLW occurs every October while NSBW occurs every March, providing an
opportunity to promote awareness for healthy school meals in the fall
and spring of each year each semester.
ARAMARK
School Support Services gears up every year to celebrate with students
across the country and get them excited about eating healthy meals in
the school cafeteria. As part of our celebration, we design special
menus, posters, banners and fun promotions, built around the year's
theme.
For NSLW
2005, the theme was "School Lunch: It's Instrumental!".
ARAMARK's nutrition mascot, Spike, and his friends visited elementary
students in cities across the country during this key week. Parents
were invited to join the celebration with their child. At the secondary
level, promotions were developed to motivate students to purchase healthier
meal options and nutrition awareness collateral insert was distributed.
Both special
weeks offer the district an opportunity to communicate and promote the
food service program to both parents and students. Many clients see
an increase in overall participation during and after the in-school
NSLW and NSBW celebrations.
